The Phables Reboot

I haven’t updated this blog in about two and a half years, but it still got nearly 800 visitors from all around the world over the past year (see the graph below), which is pretty surprising. Kudos to my collaborators and the Indie musicians who keep the scene interesting, and to WordPress, who continue to field independent blogs, even after there’s so much pressure now to move to different mediums.

At any rate, I have to find a new direction for this blog, considering that I’ve moved out of China. I thought about covering Indie music in my new country but I still have yet to wrap my head around that and am busy doing a PhD.

Ironically, I still want to write about China because most people around the world don’t know what it’s like to actually live here. Early on in the history of this blog I wrote about my experiences in Shenzhen and Taiwan and accidentally covered the first few months of the COVID-19 pandemic. I also wrote about some of the apps you use and rely on in order to do practically anything in China.

Now, I would like to share some of my own China experiences that I’ve had recently: Getting serious veterinarian care for my dog and planning a “Chinese wedding” in Shanghai. I hope to combine practical knowledge with emotional depth around these two very important life events that I’ve experienced and continue to experience in China recently. More soon!
